Project Requirements
Green Acorn Landscape Design provided a complete garden transformation for our clients in Warrington. They wanted to upgrade their existing garden, which was on a slope and needed to be professionally managed. They specifically requested a new seating area and outdoor bar area that could be used for entertaining and hosting.
Garden Transformation Design & Foundational Work
As this garden was sloped, we needed to incorporate different levels into the garden design to accommodate this and make use of the available space. This was a challenge in this garden transformation, due to the specifications our clients had for a garden room and hot tub space.
Our clients wanted a bespoke garden room that could be used as an outdoor bar, with a pool table and cinema screen. Given the size of this room, we needed to come up with a plan to tackle the sloped garden and maximise the space. This resulted in us digging into the slope of the garden, so we could build the garden room in a large enough space with a stable foundation underneath.
First, we build fountains for the retaining walls and steps, which would stabilise the slope and create separate garden zones. With the foundations in place, we built concrete block walls, which needed to last, as these would be a permanent feature of the garden.
We then added all the sub-base materials and ducting to the underground services for lighting.
Luckily, the landscape is very large, giving us plenty of space to work with. This allowed us to develop a garden design that relied on separate zones and specific areas for their requested features.
Porcelain Paving & Cladding
Another key part of the underground work in this garden transformation was the cladding and paving of the floor. We installed cladding for both the paved floor and the walls of the garden, ensuring stability and long-lasting installations.
We used porcelain tiles for the patio, pathways, and wall cladding. This provides a seamless, contemporary appearance to the garden and is present across the patio spaces and old fence line.
Finishing Touches
Our final stages in this garden transformation were dedicated to the installation of new fencing. This fencing was made from timber, separating the landscape from neighbouring gardens and adding a sense of privacy in the hot tub and seating areas of the garden.
For contrast and durability, we grouted the porcelain walls and installed raised planters that would allow seasonal planting displays with minimal upkeep.
